Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

We are getting through the last of the weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Nothing is worse than laying down at night just to find out your furnace won’t turn on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a few things you can check yourself before calling All American Air Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.

Check Air Filters

You should swap out standard air filters monthly. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem obvious, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.
