What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

All American Air Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Daytona Beach always writes about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it truly mean?

NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, as mentioned on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed nearly 20 years ago and is supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not everyone in the industry is required to be certified by NATE. The certification is voluntary and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being certified through NATE.

It’s important to Service Experts that our technicians are NATE-certified to make sure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure experts meet these criteria, the NATE-certification tests validate real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The tests are knowledge-based tests that assess the technician’s knowledge of these criteria.

Since All American Air Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only particular areas relevant to our technicians. NATE test candidates may earn installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
